No Time to Waste

It’s January 1st, 2026. I’m back to writing.

I’ve never really liked New Year’s resolutions. They feel a bit artificial. But a new year seems to demand some kind of decision, so here we go.

First: zero alcohol.
Didn’t work so well last year. For a few months it was perfect — and then I completely fucked it up. This year starts dry, and the plan is to keep it that way until the end. Simple. Not easy, but simple.

Second: low carb.
Last year was a disaster. That needs to change now. I have to lose weight — otherwise the marathon part of the Ironman will be a disaster. Low carb still seems like the best choice, so: just do it, Bart.

There are good things too. I have a training plan, I stick to it, and it’s fun. I’m improving in running, cycling, and swimming. Especially swimming — my old love — gives me a lot of satisfaction right now.

177 days to go.

Stick to the training.
Zero alcohol.
Low carb.

No time to waste. Let’s go.
