I didn’t run this morning.
The plan was to go cycling after work — finally get back on the bike with my colleagues. A solid 80 km loop. Perfect motivation, great weather, good company.
And then: one guy bailed because of the weather.
The other forgot it’s the last week of school for his three kids.
So — canceled.
Since I’ve got a lot going on at work, I stayed an extra 90 minutes. Eventually, I rode home solo.
Only 23 km today. Not much, but still: I was on the bike.
Here’s the real lesson:
If you want to train, train. Don’t rely on others. Don’t wait for plans to work out. Focus on your plan. Put your training first.
Group rides, appointments, good intentions — they’re not your training plan. If you want to finish an Ironman, there’s no space for “maybe later.”
Also — good news:
✅ I just signed up for a half-marathon in September.
That’s the next step toward the full marathon in October.
Ironman training continues.
