Today was my “big deal” run — the one from the Born to Run 2 plan that caps off the week. It’s Day 83.
The goal: 21 kilometers. Not a “half marathon” — let’s be honest, that term is reserved for race day. If there’s no bib, no start line, no crowd, then it’s just a training run. A long one.
And I did it. Slowly.
They say running slow helps you progress. I have no idea if that’s true. What I know is that this run was slow and tiring. My ankle started hurting early on. Not sharp pain — more like that dull, familiar warning. And I did what I always used to do: I ignored it. Kept going.
For years I’ve told myself that’s toughness.
Now I wonder if it’s just stupid.
But I made it. The distance is in the legs now.
This week is over.
Tomorrow, we reset.
