Ironman Training: Consistency Isn’t Magic, It’s Routine

It was session 67 of my Born to Run 2 training — 10 km with some speed work.

And let’s be honest: I I’m still not a morning person.

People think that after two months of training, it gets easy. But for me, it doesn’t. When the alarm rings, I don’t jump out of bed full of motivation. I need some version of an iron will to lace up the shoes.

That’s why routine matters.

Each evening, I lay out my running clothes. They’re waiting for me in the morning like a quiet command:
“Put me on, Bart. Go run.”
It sounds silly, but it works. Once I’m outside, everything is fine again. I’m in motion. The resistance fades.

If you’re struggling too, build a routine that helps you stay consistent. Make it easy to show up: prepare your gear, know your route, remove excuses.

And most of all, even if you don’t feel like it, lace up and run.
